HENK at home with Sophie Noyen

In our series 'HENK at home', we visit people who inspire us and give you a glimpse into their daily lives at home. This time, we're visiting Sofie Noyen, a food and interior stylist.

Sofie lives in a house with a modern extension near Antwerp, together with her husband and three children. Her home feels modern and spacious, yet it radiates a tranquil oasis through warm colours and interior design. Many furniture pieces are unique and come with a story, which is something Sofie values. We talked to her about her inspiration, her style, and why she chose the Column Table.

Sophie, you live a  busy life and you’re an empowered woman. A Mother, (food) stylist and you exercise every day; how do you ensure that your home feels like a 'home' after busy days on set/at the gym?
Home is where we find peace as a family. With all the busyness of work and external stimuli, I really wanted to create an oasis of calm in our home. Many people who visit our home get a vacation feeling when they walk in. That's a great compliment to me! It's the place where I prioritise comfort and cosiness. I think I naturally have the ability to create that.

You have a beautiful personal style: how would you describe your interior style and what inspires you?
My style is a combination of eclectic, minimalist, and wabi-sabi. I love serenity and nonchalance; architects Axel Vervoordt, Vincent Van Duyssen, and Benoit Vianne are examples for me. In our home, you can find a combination of raw, earthy materials, geometric objects, a lot of vintage items, as well as classic furniture pieces.

What do you look for when purchasing items for your home?
I always make sure they are timeless and sustainable. I often buy second-hand items as well. I enjoy searching for vintage items that I can breathe new life into. Generally, I opt for furniture with serene and neutral colours; black can be combined with anything and exudes a lot of class. For decorative objects, I'm more open to choosing colourful ones. I also love it when items in the house have a story, and I enjoy it when everything is in harmony with each other.

You had your entire house renovated; Is there a part of the house you’re still working on or would like to change?
The interior of the house is almost finished. Some rooms still need custom-made cabinets, and a few minor details need to be completed. I'm looking forward to the summer to finish the exterior of our house. Especially creating an intimate and cosy space on the terrace and its decoration. We also have a small outbuilding in the garden where I have many ideas, but that's something for the future. ;)

You chose the Column table - why did you choose this table?
I love the character and purity that the design radiates. The combination of simplicity with some substance is something I find important. The sustainable aspect of the table is also very important to me; I like to invest in sustainable items. A large table was also a must for us since we are a family of five. When we have visitors, it's a cosy crowd at the table; it truly stands at the centre of our living space. The table is a real eye-catcher in our living area among the serenity of the beige-tinted walls. I'm incredibly happy with this choice!
