The height of the table depends on the thickness of the tabletop. A tabletop with a 3 cm thickness is 74 cm high and a tabletop with a 4 cm thickness is 75 cm high. The frames have a set height of 71 cm.
You can choose between a tabletop with a 3 or 4 cm thickness. Do you want a standard edge finish? In that case, a 4 cm tabletop gives the table a bit more body than a 3 cm tabletop, but of course: it depends on what you prefer. Do you want a chamfered edge finish? Then the added value of a tabletop of 4 cm is minimal, because the tabletop will be sawed off slanted. For tables with a length of 260 cm or more we do advise a thickness of 4 cm, because of the strength and the stability.

First, measure the width of your chairs. Let’s say it’s 50 cm. You'll need to add 7 cm per chair (5 cm is tight, 10 cm is roomy). This adds up to 57 cm. Then, decide how many chairs you want. If you want three chairs on each side, you'll need 171 cm between the legs. You have to take into account the positioning of the frame too, though. (You can place the legs at 14, 20 or 26 cm from the side). If you choose to place the frame at 14 cm from the side, you'll need to add 14 cm for each side to the above calculation of the chair width of 171 cm. This means that for three chairs with a width of 50 cm you will need 171 cm + 28 cm = 199 cm. In other words, a tabletop of 200 cm is perfectly suitable for this chair combination.

To decide how many chairs you can fit, you'll need to measure the width of your chairs. We use a chair of 45 cm, without arm rests, as example. If your chair is 45 cm, you can place the following amount of chairs around a round table:
Ø 100 cm: 3 chairs
Ø 110 cm: 3 chairs
Ø 120 cm: 4 chairs
Ø 130 cm: 5 chairs
Ø 140 cm: 5 chairs
Ø 150 cm: 6 chairs
Ø 160 cm: 7 chairs

First, you have to realise that the shape of an oval table changes according to size. So if you buy a shorter table it will look different than when you buy a longer table. This is because the width of the tabletop is always 120 cm. The longer the table, the more pointy the sides. This means that sitting at the head of an oval table is quite different from sitting at the head of a rectangular table too. You have to consider the width of your chairs and the absence/presence of armrests too, as with any other table.
To decide how many chairs you can fit, you have to measure the width of your chairs first. Then, add an extra 7 cm per chair (5 cm is tight, 10 cm is roomy). This is the amount of space you'll need per chair between the legs. You can find the space between the legs below. (We count from the middle of the strip of the frame).
Example
We pick a chair of 46,5 cm. We add 7 cm extra for every chair, which adds up to 53,5 cm per chair. We want to place three chairs on each side, so we'll need 160,5 cm between the legs. This means an oval table of 260 cm (with an 164 cm interspace) would be best. You can also fit three narrow chairs per side (50 cm per chair, including the extra space) at a 240 cm table or three wider chairs per side (60 cm per chair, including the extra space) at a 280 cm table. When hosting a dinner, it is always possible to place chairs at the tapering sides of the table.

The table legs of rectangular tables can be placed 14, 20 or 26 cm from the sides. You do not have to decide the positioning when you purchase the table. All attachment points are in the table top so you can always change the position yourself. The frames of the round and oval tables have a standard position.
We work with A-quality European oak wood. This means that there are minimal knots in the wood. It is possible that there are small knots, though. It is a natural product after all. The size of the knot that is allowed, however, is about 2 cm.
We offer tabletops in different materials, finishes and colours. You can choose from the following options:
- Hardwax oil natural light (3041)
- Hardwax oil natural (3062)
- Black lacquer (RAL 9005)
- White lacquer (RAL 9016)
- HPL Fenix NTM
The hardwax oils are both transparent. The hardwax oil natural (3062) is a little more yellow than the hardwax oil natural light (3041). Interested in our furniture for your company or project? Ask us about the possibilities for HPL Fenix tabletops.
Hardwax oil is a combination of oil and wax. The hardwax oil is applied directly onto the untreated tabletop. Three layers are applied to ensure a wear-resistant finish of the tabletop. The advantage of hardwax oil compared to regular oil is the combination with wax. The wax ensures that the pores in the wood are completely filled immediately, which protects the tabletop much better against stains and spots than regular oil.
In general, we advise private clients to opt for hardwax oil. Hardwax oil is less sensitive to breakage and scratches than lacquer and HPL. It is also easier to repair it yourself in case of damage. It does have to be treated once a year with a maintenance wax. In case you think the advantages of hardwax oil do not outweigh the disadvantages, HPL is a good alternative. For instance, in business environments HPL is often chosen because the tabletops don't need maintenance every year. Interested in our furniture for your company or project? Hard-wax oil
Advantages: less sensitive to breakage and scratches than lacquer. Easier to keep beautiful in the long run. Easier to repair yourself when damaged.
Disadvantages: has to be treated every year with maintenance wax.
Lacquer
Advantages: maintenance free.
Disadvantages: more sensitive to breakage and scratches than hardwax oil. Hard to repair when damaged.
For use with children we recommend hardwax oil. Hard-wax oil is less sensitive to breakage and scratches than lacquer or HPL. This makes it easier to keep the table beautiful in the long run and in case of damages it is easier to repair.
If you do want a black or a white table, we advise you to choose HPL Fenix instead of lacquer.
Chamfered is a type of edge finish for the tabletop. The tabletop is sawed off from the top of the tabletop, tapering to the inside.
Many solid oak tabletops will sag or warp in the long run. We want to prevent this. Therefore, our tabletops are built from three layers of solid oak. This enables us to dry the wood to the perfect degree of humidity much better, which will prevent warping. We also place steel profiles underneath the tabletops across the entire width, so the tabletop cannot sag. If the tabletop is longer than 240 cm, a tension system is placed underneath the tabletop as well. This causes tension across the entire length of the tabletop. In case the tabletop does start to sag, you can adjust the tension with a wrench so it straightens out again.
We offer HPL Fenix as a finish for your tabletop and/or dining bench seat. The material is available in a selection of colours.
HPL Fenix NTM is a very solid plate consisting of several layers of compressed wood fiber. The nanotechnology of Fenix NTM creates a very matt and silky smooth surface. Fingerprints are barely visible, and it is resistant to rubbing, scratching and wear. For care and maintenance tips, head over to our maintenance page.
Certainly. The tables have been treated with a lacquer or a hardwax oil. Both finishes protect well against stains and spots. Contrary to lacquer, hardwax oil does need maintenance once a year. See the FAQ: how can I maintain my table with hardwax oil?
You can clean the tabletop with water and non-aggressive cleaners. Regular soapy water is just fine!

A lacquer or hardwax oil tabletop will wear out through normal use, this is no reason for complaint. In some cases there is damage due to material or manufacturing defects. These complaints will of course be handled. Excluded are scratches in lacquer or cracks in the panel itself. Even with normal use, scratches and breaks in the lacquer finish can occur with a lacquered tabletop. These damages are not part of warranty.
A crack in a solid wooden tabletop indicates that it is too dry in the room. Wood is a natural product and works like a sponge. If it gets too dry in the room, the wood also gets drier and eventually tears. If the humidity in the room is higher, the wood will attract moisture and will not tear.
The relative humidity is different every day and depends on the weather conditions. Even during the day and night, for example because of heating, humidity in the house can fluctuate considerably. It is important to keep the relative humidity in the room where the furniture is placed around 65%, at least between 50 and 70%. This is not only good for the wood, but also for your own health (breathing, skin) and your home.
It is therefore important to regularly check the hygrometer for the percentage. Such a meter indicates the percentage of moist in the room. Extensive thermometers and modern heating applications, such as Tado, are also equipped with such a meter. Maintaining the right air humidity is possible with air humidifiers and dehumidifiers. It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure proper humidity, so that the wood does not crack.
