One of our talented Interior Advisors, Aimée, took some time to answer some of your most asked questions. Discover how best to customise your furniture, style different materials and more.

How do I style a wooden dining table on a wooden floor?

"This is mostly a matter of taste, but here’s what we know. The easiest way to combine wood with wood is by making sure that it is either similar or completely different. When it’s ‘a little off’ you will really notice the difference. Sometimes this can be avoided by choosing a wooden tabletop with a steel frame, as this will break the connection between the tabletop and the floor."

What are the benefits of choosing a round dining table?

"A round dining table often feels slightly cosier, as you are more connected to all the guests at the table, and you can all join in the conversation. When it comes to size, a round dining table is a great option if you have a square shaped living space. It’s also a great option for smaller spaces too."

Why choose an oval or flat oval table?

"Both of these tabletop shapes can add a playful touch to your living space because they break up straight lines. They can also give your space a softer feel, which is especially nice in modern buildings. Our oval tabletops have a standard width of 120 cm, so they need slightly more space. The flat oval on the other hand is available with a 90 or 100 cm width so it is more space efficient and perfect for smaller dining rooms."

How do I decide on the size of my dining table?

"You will need about 70-80 cm between the dining table and the wall for enough room to sit comfortably. And, if you want to be able to walk freely around the dining table while guests are seated, you will need to leave around 90 cm of free space."

How durable are your oak dining tables?

"We are committed to helping create a cleaner planet and to making furniture that lasts. That’s why all of our oak dining tables are made from European oak that is FSC/PEFC certified. If you choose an oak dining table with a natural or natural light finish, they are well-protected with hardwax oil too. If there are any signs of wear, you can easily treat your table so that it will last even longer. Discover all of our care tips here."

Should I choose an oak or a black dining table?

"This is a question we get asked very often, and I think the choice depends on a few factors: the colour of your walls and floor, and the colour of the kitchen and the rest of the furniture in your home. A black dining table feels more contemporary and forms a beautiful contrast with a wooden floor. An oak dining table on the other hand, gives your space a brighter and more natural feel and can add warmth to modern homes – especially homes with an epoxy floor."

Should I choose dining chairs with or without armrests?

"Armrests can add a nice sense of comfort but are not always deemed ‘necessary’ at the dining table. They also take up more space, so they’re not always the best option. If you do have enough space, why not combine chairs both with and without armrests? This way, there’s something to suit everyone!"

How many chairs can I fit at my dining table?

"The number of chairs you can fit at your dining table depends on the shape, size and frame of your chairs. We have created an overview on our FAQ page under ‘table measurements’ to show this in more detail."

You have more than 400 fabrics in your collection! Where do I start?

"First, let’s take a look at your living situation. Do you live alone, with your partner or perhaps with children or pets? Although plain fabrics are no more sensitive to stains than textured fabrics, stains do become more visible. If this bothers you, opt for a fabric with a slight texture.

Then, it’s (almost) all a matter of taste. Start by looking at the different textures and decide which ones you like. If you have a wool allergy, opt for a fabric with synthetic fibres instead. Once you know which textures you like, you can dive into the world of colour."

How do I combine different fabrics?

"There are many different ways to combine fabrics. By playing with textures and combining different fabrics in the same colour, you can create a livelier effect. You can also combine different shades of the same colour to create more depth, while still creating a serene atmosphere."
